Open access
Gold open access: published articles are immediately free to read. Reuse is CC BY 4.0. JPBS does not currently charge an APC.
Gold open access
JPBS is committed to gold open access. All published articles are freely and immediately available online to readers worldwide, without subscription or pay-per-view barriers and with no embargo period.
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence unless otherwise stated. CC BY 4.0 permits others to share, copy, redistribute, adapt and build upon the published work for commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the source is cited, and any modifications are indicated.
Permissions and reuse
Because articles are published under CC BY 4.0, permission from the journal is generally not required to reuse, distribute or adapt published material, provided the licence terms are respected and appropriate attribution is given. Authors are free to share published articles, including through institutional repositories, academic networks and personal websites.
When an article includes third-party material — figures, photographs, tables or other copyrighted content — reuse of that material may be subject to the rights of the original copyright holder. Authors are responsible for obtaining the required permissions or licences.
Article processing charges
JPBS does not currently charge authors an article processing charge for publishing accepted articles. The journal may introduce publication charges in the future. Any such change will be stated on the APC page and will apply only to manuscripts submitted after the new policy takes effect.
What open access provides
Open access makes published research freely accessible, immediately available, widely disseminable and reusable under CC BY 4.0 with attribution. The model can support compliance with funder and institutional requirements that mandate or encourage immediate public access. Unrestricted access contributes to the communication and advancement of pharmaceutical research; it is not a claim about indexing, citations or an Impact Factor.
